Falcon Coffees is a global specialty green coffee trader sourcing coffees across 26 origins and connecting them with roasters around the world. Alongside the business of buying and selling coffee, Falcon invests in a wide range of initiatives intended to strengthen coffee farming communities and address some of the environmental challenges facing coffee production.
A particularly interesting part of their work is Falcon On-Farm. Through this initiative, Falcon employs scientists and works with farmers to develop and test practical approaches to challenges such as climate change, soil health and biodiversity. The focus is on techniques that can be used on real coffee farms — and that are practical, affordable and scalable.
We appreciate that this work goes beyond simply identifying problems. Climate change and environmental degradation are enormous challenges for coffee, and there are no easy solutions. Falcon On-Farm is an attempt to put knowledge, resources and long-term research to work alongside farmers facing those challenges.
Falcon's scale means their coffees can come from supply chains that look very different from one another. That makes it all the more important to look at each coffee and its journey individually.
